Favre breaks fan's hearts

Brett Favre's betrayal has left packer fans in Wisconsin torn, bitter, and even heart-broken. So much so my local paper ran an article about it.

Medford Schools Cancel Classes, after-school Events Amid Flu Outbreak

Schools in Medford Wisconsin are out all week due to a flu outbreak, of which 14 cases are confirmed H1N1 strains. The school district hopes a week off will keep the flu, seasonal and otherwise, from spreading further.

Letter: Americans must stand up to liberal fools

A few bible verses thrown in for...well 'measure', not sure if it's good or bad. You tell me. Only Americans should stand up to liberal fools, so if you live in Canada you shouldn't read this ...or something, I don't know it's late.

Letter: Bills will help dismantle Constitution

They certainly dismantle my paycheck..oh wait. Tyranny in Wisconsin...and the Land of Oz. Always knew those munchkins were up to no good! What do you expect when their diet consists of mainly lollipops?

Weakling President Asks Imaginary Man In Sky To Bless Nation

...and some politics, pretty funny stuff. Which I prefer to the stories uber-politico's on here love to argue about. Back and forth, back and forth and nothing ever gets fixed, maybe we really do need an imaginary man in the sky to get anything done around here.

Northwoods Smokers Explore Alternatives To Cigarettes

Three men stand outside a mall in Marshfield Wisconsin. It's 4:30 in the afternoon on a Friday and wicked hot, for Wisconsin anyway. Each of the loiterers is smoking a wooden pipe filled with Cavendish tobacco. Redcap Blend No. 7 to be specific. I know because one of them is me.

D&D 4th Edition AKA The Money Pit

I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on gaming products over the years. I take pride in being a gamer though and I understand that as an industry a game publishers primary motivation is profit. If only Wizards of the Coast could be a little less obvious about it.

Pirates Constructable Strategy Game

I first ran into the Pirates CSG (Constructable Strategy Game) at the Gen-Con gaming convention a few years back via a free pack in the swag bag. After scrounging and trading for a few more packs of the 'revolution' expansion I promptly forgot about the game for a few years.

Were The Lords Of Kobol Cylons?

Whether you've been watching since the original mini-series or just tuned in last week you've heard of the scrolls of Pythia (It's the book that Roslin burnt in the last episode). The Pythian Prophecy has been a central theme on Battlestar Galactica since the first season.

VHS Obscura #1 'Real Killers'

This is my first movie review here on the vine or anywhere else for that matter. The focus of 'VHS Obscura' is rather narrow. I'm only going to review relatively obscure movies, many of them direct to video releases. My range falls mostly in the late 80's to mid 90's.

Out For True Blood

I love vampires. The restless dead, lurking in the shadows, waiting to prey on hapless humans. It's visceral and macabre. Damn sexy too. Vampires on television churn my blood. Programs about bloodsuckers fall into two categories; awesome and awful.

High Praise for Warhammer: Dark Heresy

First off I'd like to say that I was never crazy for Warhammer 40k. My roommates read some of the novels and really dug the material. I mean some of those books are chalk full of bad craziness. Well so is the setting.

Nation Of Strangers

My grandfather was a bar owner for sixty some odd years. He made a living off his regulars, standing behind a bar all day drinking miller lite and 'shooting the breeze'. Most of the time if he wasn't talking about the war he'd spin some yarns about 'the good ole days'.

The Demon and The Bourbon

I recently secured regular work at a sub-shop. I say regular work because I had a job before but it wasn't steady. Beyond having an erratic work schedule, working in a bar isn't for everyone, especially a blossoming alcoholic like myself.
